Hyperhidrosis

Hyperhidrosis

Are you suffering from hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating)? This condition affects about 2-3% of the population. It most commonly affects the forehead, face, underarms, hands and feet. It can be not very pleasant and can limit social activities. Aluminum-based products (in solution form or gel form) help to reduce sweating by blocking the sweat glands. Topical glycopyrrolate is an effective and safe option.

Glycopyrrolate applied topically can penetrate the skin to block the nerve signals that stimulate the sweat glands, therefore resulting in a reduction of sweat secretion. It is to be applied to the affected area at bedtime. Clinical studies have shown that excessive underarm sweating, facial sweating, and diabetic gustatory sweating (profuse sweating with eating) are being treated successfully with topical glycopyrrolate.

Topical glycopyrrolate is well tolerated with minimal side effects. It can also be used in conjunction with aluminum-based products such as Drysol or Hydrosal to enhance the effects in severe cases of hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating).
